Love the hustle and bustle of a large town and want quick and easy access to Central London? The Greater London Borough of Croydon and its adjoining areas including Purley, Coulsdon, Sanderstead and Shirley could be right up your street.
This vibrant borough is every bit a cultural metropolis, brimming over with art attractions, entertainment venues, major retail centres, fantastic food from around the world, and businesses of every size and industry. It’s also a centre of world-class artistic talent in stage, screen and music, and home to the renowned BRIT School of Performing Arts.
One of the largest districts in Greater London, there really is something for everyone in Croydon.
You really can “shop ‘til you drop” in Croydon with two major shopping hubs, the Centrale and Whitgift Centre and Valley Park retail Centre, plus a host of smaller centres and precincts throughout the town, including a great selection of small independent retailers. However, we suggest simply taking a break from your retail adventures to pop into Boxpark Mall for the ultimate world food and drink experience or into one of the town’s many restaurants, pubs and cafes to recharge your batteries.
Love art? Then you are going to love Croydon with its stunning art installations, incredible street art and murals can be found throughout the town, and it even has its own art trail to help you discover them.
You may be forgiven for thinking that Croydon was a concrete jungle but far from it. There are literally dozens of peaceful green spaces to relax and unwind in, as well as playgrounds to wear the kids out in, outdoor recreation and sporting venues, as well as woodland parks to get back to nature in.
We can’t talk about Croydon without mentioning Crystal Palace FC and their Selhurst Park Stadium. Croydon's home team fans are one of the most loyal groups of supporters you’ll ever meet. Maybe not one of the most glamourous clubs in the Premier League, but certainly one of the most loved by its supporters who welcome new fans with open arms. Even if you’re not a big footie fan, you’ll soon get caught up in the matchday atmosphere if you manage to get a ticket to one of their games.
Croydon has attracted a great deal of business investment over recent years and many large corporations have now moved out of (or closer to) Central London and made Croydon their home. Large office blocks tower over the town and create a very metropolitan feel to the area. Business is certainly booming in Croydon these days and further Government funding has been committed to the area for further development including more than 2,000 new homes.
Croydon has an incredibly wide and diverse range of educational facilities, including state grammar and independent schools, private fee-paying schools, sixth-form colleges, higher education colleges offering university-level education, and several international schools.
The arts are a big feature of Croydon life and as well as the BRIT School of Performing Arts, students can study fine art, literature, languages and a host of other off-mainstream subjects.
Trains, trams, rail and bus travel is a cinch in and around Croydon with regular routes running daily to and from London and the surrounding areas. Trains services also run all the way to Brighton.
The M23 and M25 are also withing easy reach for road travel throughout the south and beyond.
Croydon has a very buoyant and fast-moving property market, with as much diversity as the town itself.
There are many stunning mansions and traditional character homes around the suburbs that are increasingly popular with people wanting to be close to Central London but without the hefty price tag.
Several new developments have been built over recent years, many of which are “Rent to Buy” properties, in line with local government’s commitment to more affordable housing. This has helped many new homers get their first foot on the housing ladder.
Social housing is also available in the area but along with almost every town and city across the UK, this is in short supply.
Croydon has been promised over 2,000 new homes as part of regeneration and expansion plans for the area.
The town’s growing popularity looks set to continue with investing in property being a great opportunity to enjoy a rapid growth in value in this future property hotspot.

Clarendons are a refreshing change in lettings market. Clarendons focus on providing service rather than selling their services, working hard to forge good relationships with Landlords and Tenants which makes everything run smoothly. As a landlord Clarendons have saved me time and helped me to provide my tenants with a better service. Clarendon's fees to both the Landlord and Tenant are realistic and reasonable. Thank you.
Mrs Samantha Falconer
We have rented through Clarendons for over a year now. Alex and the rest of the team have been great and very responsive if any issues have arisen. I wouldn't hesitate recommending them to anyone in Reigate or the surrounding areas.
Mr Toby Pocock & Miss Lucy Morgan
Alex was instrumental in ensuring our unit was handed over to us smoothly and was in a rentable condition in the shortest time possible. He is very knowledgeable and experienced with the Croydon and surrounding markets as demonstrated in his timely and wise advice to us. Always attentive and responsive, it was a breeze to do business with him and his firm and I rest easy knowing he is available to assist with any concerns that might pop up. Great job!
