It’s finally March, and while the weather is still to catch up, spring is in sight – and it really is the optimum time to sell your property.
With the clocks going forward at the end of the month, and the lighter, brighter days edging closer, it’s an ideal time to start thinking about putting your house on the market.
Here at Clarendons Estate Agents, it’s one of the busiest times in terms of sales activity - buyers have come out of the post-Christmas hibernation and are ready to find a new home in April, May and June. Also, many families with school age children will be thinking ahead to the start of the new school year after the summer.
That said, as an owner, there are a few things you can do to really help you get that sale over the line this spring.
Spring Clean
It’s a simple tip, and one we would give year-round, but a Spring clean is hugely important task before you put your house on the market. Remember, first impressions count. As the light pours into your home more so in the spring and summer months, make sure that it sparkles – clean windows and mirrors so when the sunlight hits there’s no dust in sight, tidy away any clutter and perhaps even put some bright flowers around the home to entice potential buyers.
Outdoor space
If you have a garden, then now is the time to get outside. Your lawn and patio will likely need some TLC after the winter months. Even simply mowing the lawn and planting a few flowers will do wonders for the kerb appeal to viewers. Make sure you do this ahead of your agent taking professional photos, too.
Home Improvements
Do you need to make any minor home improvements before you sell? With inclement weather on the decline as the months go on, now would be the time to do it – it may be that your gutters need cleaning outside, or you need to refresh some paintwork in some of your rooms. Every little bit helps.
