As most people prepare to slow down in December and take a well-earned rest for the festive period, you might think it would be a crazy time to put your property on the market.
However, while January remains one of the best and most buoyant times to sell a home with many making a ‘fresh start’, putting your home up for sale during the Christmas break could be a savvy move to kickstart the process.
Here at Clarendons we recommend sellers get ahead of the masses and prepare for the Boxing Day ‘boom’ by getting ready to market their home now.
Why? Well notoriously it’s a time when couples, families and friends are able to sit down together, look online at properties and discuss their plans for the forthcoming year. Add to this, 2021 has been a year like no other when it comes to demand, so staying on top of the competition is key.
In fact, Rightmove, said that Boxing Day 2020 saw visits to the site up 54% compared to 2019 – and it’s a trend that is expected to continue this year.
If your property is top of the list on the portals as newly added, you could have viewings booked for early January. And, if things go to plan with your property, you could have a buyer secured and ready to take off the market before the first month of the year is over.
Plus, if you’re planning to purchase a new home yourself, you will then be in a strong position to get out and seriously view if you’ve had an offer accepted on your property.
We are working right up to the Christmas Eve and during the holiday period (reduced office hours), so give us a call to make sure you start 2022 the right way.
Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year!
